Nikwax® Rug Proof™

Nikwax® Rug Proof™ is an easy to use high performance wash on waterproofing treatment for animal rugs and coats, which adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR) and revives the breathability and insulation of the rug.

If the breathability of your rug is impaired, your animal can get clammy and uncomfortable in wet or damp conditions, and if the outer fabric begins to absorb water, the rug can lose up to 70% of its breathability. The DWR of the outer fabric of the rug needs to be maintained for your animals comfort. Using Nikwax® Rug Proof™ adds which prevents water absorption whilst maintaining breathability, keeping your animals dry and comfortable.

How To Use

For best results always clean the rug first using Nikwax® Rug Wash™, there is no need to dry the rug before waterproofing.

For Use in a Washing Machine - Remove all detergent build up from the dispenser and place clean rug in the drum of the machine. Use 500ml per rug, treating 1 rug per load. Run on a 30 degree cotton cycle, and allow to air dry afterwards.

For Use by Hand Washing - Wearing gloves, use 500ml for 1 rug, mixed with 10 litres of hot water in a bucket or tub large enough to fit the rug. Agitate to mix, and submerge the rug into the mixture so it is fully immersed. Add a further 15 litres of warm water to cover and agitate to mix. Leave the rug to soak in the treatment for 2 hours agitating occasionally, then rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear and leave to air dry.
